Mercedes LAPV 7.X concept: Mercedes shows the tank-G for the future


Mercedes has unveiled two new studies with the LAPV concept. The concept vehicles based Mercedes G point not only interesting new details. It is also the first combination of Mercedes G and Unimog on the part of the manufacturer.

Areas of application where you usually are Mercedes LAPV (light armoured patrol vehicle), have more likely to do little with the civil use of a luxury Mercedes G of the 463er class. The armored military vehicles in the German army under the generic name "Enok" in use, are based on the current commercial vehicle series of type 461.
Mercedes has shown two studies for the future development of the concept, the LAPV 6.X concept and the LAPV 7.X concept.
The LAPV 6.X concept is based on the military chassis of G has but to offer some delicacies in the chassis. Height-adjustable Struts used used in rally trucks come as suspension. So, the ground clearance under the vehicle can be varied. The G-axis are upgraded with wheel output gears, which will increase the ground clearance under the differential in connection with the high special tyres to whopping 45 inches. So-called Beadlock wheels with external cable gland prevent that turn the tires at extremely low air pressure on the rim. The inflation pressure can be varied on an indoor-to-use system, so the tire pressure can be lowered, for example, for sand runs strong.
Also the LAPV 7.X concept is an interesting object of study for off road enthusiasts, because here combines Mercedes for the first time two worlds. The combination of a G body with a Unimog chassis was completed already in the past of tuners and private hobbyists, this study however is new territory for Mercedes. This comes from the G-series engine, transmission and construction, the Foundation with gantry axes is taken over by the Unimog.
With the breathtaking ground clearance and the automatic tire filling system one could imagine these two artists of climbing well in private use - on the armor we would of course give it.
